Heart Attack?!

“Who me? No, that can’t be!” …. or.. 
“This just cannot be” or … 
“I didn’t expect THIS!  or… 
“They are too young to have  __________ ( fill in the blank on a life threatening event).”

That’s the first thing I hear from clients when a major event happens. 

The second thing is….
“Oh. #%$!?!, I hope my plan takes care of me!”  then….
“I hope this doesn’t cost me too much.” and…
“Can I go to….?”

While it’s difficult to have someone experience a major health event, it is gratifying for me to be a part of the solution. They chose a great health plan that fits their needs.

To say, “Yes. You are covered.”  “Yes. You can go to the doctor you want.”

In my case, I didn’t have a heart attack. However, the impact was the same.

My lifestyle was significantly altered. I was seriously sick and I didn’t know why. 

I could not get off my couch. I lost energy, my ability to move and function. Traditional docs were saying the problem was me, that there was nothing physically wrong.

She confirmed her assumptions through extensive medical testing. I had an auto-immune condition, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis compounded with an activated Epstien Barr virus. It wasn’t an easy recovery.

The difficulty didn’t matter, I was so relieved to have a path for healing. I did get better and ten years later, I’m healthy today (in spite of a Lyme Disease diagnosis last year that has since been resolved).

And…my health insurance plan covers “Alternative” or “Complementary” health care. USHealth covers non-traditional care.

If you’re someone who already goes to functional medicine clinics or utilizes naturopathic care or medical massage therapy…it’s happy dance time knowing you have these options!

Or…when you decide to do more traveling around the US or buy a home in a different state, you can let out a sigh of relief that your health isn’t restricted by state lines.

My favorite is when you have the opportunity to retire early, are under 65, and don’t qualify for Medicare yet. Usually the cost difference between your Cobra rate and ACA rate is significant.

So not only do you have the freedom to be in different states, but you have an affordable rate that helps you bridge the financial gap until you turn 65!
